BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS
COMMITTEES OF COUNCIL 2008
The Finance Committee of Council:
Cristie Hammond (Chairperson), Brian Wisniewski (Vice Chairperson),
Jeff Fix, Mike Sabatino, Tricia Sanders, Brian Sauer, Keith Smith,
Mayor Mitch O'Brien (ex-officio) and Tim Hansley (non-voting).
Staff to the Committee are Linda Fersch, Director of Finance, and
Lynda Yartin, Municipal Clerk. Finance Committee meets on the third
Wednesday of each month at 7:30 P.M.
The Finance Committee is the principal
review body on the annual tax budget and the Manager’s annual budget.
In addition, the Finance Committee recommends appropriation changes to
Council throughout the year and reviews City insurance expenditures
and personnel issues.
The Rules Committee of Council:
Jeff Fix (Chairperson), Mike Sabatino (Vice Chairperson), Keith Smith and Mayor
Mitch O'Brien (ex-officio). Staff to the Committee is Lynda Yartin, Municipal Clerk.
Rules Committee meets on an as needed basis, on the first Wednesday of
the month at 7:30 P.M.
The Rules Committee of Council recommends
persons for appointments to vacant positions on Council and Boards and
Commissions. The Committee reviews and recommends changes to the
Administrative Code and makes the rules for Council.
The Safety Committee of Council:
Keith Smith (Chairperson), Mike Sabatino (Vice Chairperson), Tricia
Sanders, Mayor Mitch O'Brien (ex-officio), and Tim Hansley (non-voting).
Staff to the Committee are Michael Taylor, Chief of Police, Steve
Carr, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Stacey Bashore, Deputy Municipal
Clerk. Safety Committee meets on the first Monday of each month at
7:00 P.M.
The Safety Committee’s principal
responsibility is citizen review and input regarding the Pickerington
Police Department. The Committee also oversees lands and buildings,
general safety related topics, refuse collection and recycling, and
the City’s parks.
The Service Committee of Council:
Brian Wisniewski (Chairperson), Brian Sauer (Chairperson), Cristie
Hammond, Mayor Mitch O'Brien (ex-officio), and Tim Hansley (non-voting). Staff to the
Commission are Edward J. Drobina, Service Manager, Lance Schultz,
Director of Planning and Zoning, and Lynda Yartin, Municipal Clerk.
Service Committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 P.M.
The Service committee deals with issues
regarding water and wastewater utilities, streets, storm water,
engineering services, technical land-use, and Planning and Zoning
Commission matters.

Board of Zoning Appeals
MEMBERS: Richard Linek (Chairperson), Bill Wells, Charles Cline,
Dennis Boruzewski, and Rick Wright. Staff to the board are Lance
Schultz, Director of Planning and Zoning and Dawn-Elizabeth Romine,
Administrative Assistant. The Board meets on the fourth Thursday of
the month at 7:00 P.M., as necessary.
The Board of Zoning Appeals hears variance requests and appeals on
technical issues regarding permitted land uses under the Zoning Code.
Parks & Recreation Board
MEMBERS: Dale Frazier (Chairperson), Lynn Boetcher,
Susan Green, Yulanda Hammond and Eric Pawlowski. Staff to the Board are Steve Carr,
Director Parks & Recreation and Krista Tuttle, Administrative
Assistant. The
Parks and Recreation Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at
7:30 P.M.
The Parks & Recreation Board is an advisory board to the Safety
Committee of Council and provides policy and recreation program
advisory input to the parks and recreation department. The Board also
identifies and recommends Parks Capital projects to the Safety
Committee of Council for approval by Council. The fund is funded by a
$400 Recreation Impact Fee which is assessed per new dwelling unit
with $265 retained in the Parks Capital Improvement Fund.
Planning and Zoning Commission
MEMBERS: Doug Blake, (Chairperson), Brian Bosch, Mark
Nicholas, Joshua Binkley, Brian Sauer (Council Representative), Ted
Hackworth (Mayor's Representative).
Staff to the Commission are Lance Schultz, Director of Planning and
Zoning and Stacey Bashore, Deputy Municipal Clerk. The Planning and Zoning
Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 P.M.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing
proposals and making recommendations on land use policy and
development. The principal activities include review and
recommendation on subdivisions and annexations, rezonings, site plans,
comprehensive sign plans, and issues certificates of appropriateness
for commercial projects under the City’s Commercial Design Guidelines.
The City maintains active membership in both Mid-Ohio Regional
Planning Commission (MORPC) and Fairfield County Regional Planning
Commission (FCRPC). Mr. Schultz represents the City at the FCRPC
meetings.
Personnel Appeals Board
MEMBERS: Tim Wagner (Chairperson) and Mitzi Dunn. Staff to the
Board is Linda Fersch, Interim Personnel Director and Stacey Bashore,
Deputy Municipal Clerk. The Board meets on the
Third Thursday of each month at 6:00 P.M.
The Board serves with all powers and duties as the Civil Service
Commission for the City. Other responsibilities are to hear appeals
whenever any individual in the classified service or applicant to a
competitive service position, feels aggrieved by any action of the
City.
Tree Commission
MEMBERS: Mike McKinley, (Chairperson), Carol Carter, Don Goodrich, Steve Malone, and Linda Shelts. Staff to the Commission are Ed Drobina,
Service Manager, Gregg Ellis, City Arborist, and Diana
Fuller, Administrative Assistant. The Commission meets on the second
Thursday of each month at 6:00 P.M.
The Tree Commission is an advisory board to the Safety Committee of
Council and provides policy and recommendations for the City’s street
tree program.
Utility Fees Review Committee
MEMBERS: Terry Walburn (Chairperson), Rick Wright, Brian Sauer, Kevin
Snyder, and Ted Hackworth. Staff to the Committee are Ed Drobina,
Service Manager and Lynda Yartin, Municipal Clerk. The Committee meets
on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 P.M., as necessary.
The Utility Fees Review Committee is charged with studying and making
recommendations to City council on the utility fees for the City’s
water, wastewater and stormwater utilities including, but not limited
to capacity/connection, user, meters, licensing and permits. |
